Clemson School of Nursing SNAP
The Clemson University School of Nursing is proud to announce the 2013 session of the Summer Nursing Academic Enrichment Program (SNAP). The SNAP program invites rising high school juniors and seniors to Clemson’s campus each summer for a one-week day recruitment program, June 17-21. Once on campus, students are introduced to Clemson’s traditions while learning about academic degree programs in nursing, career services, financial aid, academic support services, and other programs for students. See Mrs. Meehan in the guidance office for an application.
Baptist Easley Hospital Volunteer Program
Baptist Easley Hospital is recruiting teens ages 15-22 for its summer student volunteer program.

Spartanburg Methodist College’s Guest Fest
Guest Fest is a campus-wide celebration for prospective students on Saturday, March 23. Current SMC students will lead tours of campus residence halls, classrooms, athletic facilities, etc. After lunch, you will mingle with coaches, faculty, administrators and soon-to-be classmates. Clemson University Summer Scholars
The Clemson Scholars program offers exciting enrichment programs for academically talent middle and high school students. Specialized full or half-day classes are combined with evening and weekend activities such as nature studies, campus tours, and small group discussions with Clemson faculty and career and educational guidance staff. Pamphlets with dates and course listings are available in the Guidance Office.

SC AHEC Summer Careers Academy
The South Carolina AHEC Summer Careers Academy is presented by the South Carolina AHEC in collaboration with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Colleges of Nursing, Dental Medicine, Medicine, Health Professions, MUSC Library, South Carolina College of Pharmacy, and the Southeastern Virtual Institute for Health Equity and Wellness. The Academy is a one-week summer program designed to help minority and disadvantaged students prepare for entry into nursing, dental, medicine, pharmacy, physician assistant, and occupational therapy education training programs within South Carolina. The Academy is conducted in collaboration with the MUSC College of Nursing, College of Dental Medicine, College of Medicine, College of Health Professions, SEVIEW, MUSC Library and the South Carolina College of Pharmacy.
The 2013 Academy is scheduled for June 2-7, 2013.
Eligibility Requirements: Participants must be 18 years old by June 1, 2013, have at least a 3.0 GPA, be accepted to a college or university with the designated career path

Victorious Foundation/ 2013 International Youth Essay Contest
Participants choose from three given topics and submit a 750 word essay.

Clemson University Summer Debate Camp
Clemson University’s Summer Scholars program is offering a Debate Camp for high school students during the summer of 2013. This week-long program will focus on research, persuasion and developing the understanding of advanced policy debate skills. Students will have the opportunity to stay on Clemson’s campus for 7 days/6 nights, with 4-5 hours per day of core academic curricula. Beyond class, students will receive the full Clemson experience, only offered through the Summer Scholars model.

Furman University’s Multicultural Achievement Program (M.A.P.)

The M.A.P. is designed to give exceptional multicultural juniors a glimpse into the daily life of a Furman student, allowing students the opportunity to explore Furman in a relaxed and informative setting. Participants will enjoy a tour of campus, participate in a mock class taught by our best professors, interact with current Furman students, and enjoy a Paladin men’s basketball game.
The event will begin with check-in at 9:30 a.m. and conclude with the basketball game’s end at 6:00 p.m.

Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) Scholarship Program
This generous student study abroad scholarship program is offered to high school students ages 15-18.
Students must be a U.S. citizen
Student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Note: Previous German language study is not a requirement
The scholarship includes:
Round-trip airfare to Germany
Placement with host family for an academic year
Enrollment in high school
Health and accident insurance
Local supervision and support

GI Film Festival
This school year, the GI Film Festival is holding an initiative in cooperation with the Department of Defense Korean War Commemoration Committee. The GI Film Festival is the nation's only film festival whose mission is to preserve the stories of our men and women in uniform through the medium of film and television. Every year in May in Washington DC we bring Hollywood and the military together for a weeklong event celebrating the success and sacrifice of our service men and women.
As a part of this festival, interested high school students are encouraged make a 3-5 minute film about a Korean War veteran - interview, act out a story, animation, anything. All videos will be posted on the DoD KW-60 website. Five students who submit videos will win two tickets to the GI Film Festival and a $500 scholarship. For detailed information, please visit:
Blue Ridge Electric Co-Op’s Annual Washington D.C. Youth Tour
Blue Ridge Electric Co-Op is offering an expense paid six-day fun and educational trip to Washington, D.C. with over 1,000 other high school juniors from across the US. Participants will meet their legislators, tour historic sites and meet other students. Youth tour participants will also be eligible to compete for a $2,500 scholarship.

Two winners will be selected for an interview.
The deadline to enter is Friday, February 1, 2013.

Write an original and creative essay of 1,000 words or less that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. First-place winner receives a $5,000 cash award and $5,000 to grow in a college savings plan. Second-place receives $1,000 cash and up to five finalists each receive $500. ITT Tech will be hosting its annual High School Open House, on Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on their campus at Six Independence Pointe, Greenville, SC.
