Oconee County Training/Blue Ridge High School Scholarship

The Oconee County Training School/Blue Ridge High School Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship offered to a qualifying graduating high school student attending an accredited college or university this year.  This is a one-time scholarship offered to a student that has at least a 2.5 GPA and is a descendent of an Oconee County Training /Blue Ridge High School Alumnus.

SCADA Scholarship for Automotive Excellence

The South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association is pleased to award scholarships to deserving students pursuing an education and career in automotive technology.
The applicant must meet the following guidelines:

  •  Be a resident of SC with plans to attend a college or technical school in the fall of 2014
  • Be seeking enrollment in an Automotive Technology degree program
  • Preference will be given to applicants who show an interest and desire to work for a SC dealership upon completion of their degree program
  • Applicants must complete and return the application packet including the student background sheets, the recommendation form and transcripts no later than June 10
  • Dependents of dealers are not eligible to apply
  • Scholarships will be awarded directly to the institution.

2014 Charlie Hagood Scholarship

Behavioral Health Services of Pickens County is taking applications for the 2014 Charlie Hagood Scholarship. It is a $1000 scholarship offered to a senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university in the fall and major in a field under the Human Services job cluster. Examples of these majors are psychology, sociology, medicine, criminal justice, education, human resources and theology.

Athnet Sports Recruiting Scholarship

Athnet Sports Recruiting believes in the ability of sports to teach young people important life lessons. They are proud to be able to offer a $1,000 scholarship to a current or future college student who plays, or has played high school or college sports. The Athnet Scholarship committee will award the scholarship to the student whose essay best demonstrates how the lessons they learned through sports have positively impacted them as they pursue their college education.

How to Enter

Write a 400-500 word essay describing how the lessons learned through playing sports have positively impacted you as you pursue your college education.

2014 Joye Law Firm Scholarship

The Joye Law Firm is offering seniors the opportunity to win a college scholarship to help further their education. Six $2,000.00 scholarships will be awarded to seniors who plan to attend a four-year college or university in the fall. Selection is based on written essay, school activities, positions of leadership, special honors and awards, community involvement, academic performance, and professional pursuits.

Tri-County Technical College Foundation Scholarships

The TCTC foundation will award a large number of scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year.

All students who plan to attend TCTC should apply EXCEPT students who:

·         are dually enrolled high school/Tri-County

·         have declared another college or university as their primary institution

·         have a current GPA less than 2.0

William B. and Lela P. Earle Scholarship Trust Fund

The scholarship awarded by the William B. and Lela P. Earle Scholarship Trust Fund

will be for as much as full tuition for four years ($3,500 per semester), and $100 per semester or quarter for books. The scholarship is for tuition only, not for room, board, transportation or other expenses. Priority is given to students in Oconee and Pickens counties. It is a requirement that the recipient complete courses in art appreciation, music appreciation, and comparative religion before the beginning of their senior year in college, with a grade of “C” or better in each course. Handicapped applicants will be given special consideration.

J.P Coates/The SCEA-Retired Scholarship (Education)

This scholarship is awarded annually and is designed to encourage promising young people to prepare for careers in education at an accredited four-year college or university in S.C. The scholarship pays $1,000 ($500 per semester) to a South Carolina four-year school. The scholarship is awarded for four consecutive years as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 and pursues a career in education.

Applicants must:

·   Be a senior graduating from a public school in SC

·   Attend a 4-year school in SC full-time

·   Pursue a career in education

·   Maintain a 3.0 GPR

·   Demonstrate leadership abilities

Light Up A Life Scholarship

The Auxiliary to Greenville Health System has partnered
with the Center of Scholarship Administration to administer the Light up a Life Scholarship.

Applicants must be:

- The child of a Greenville Health System employee

- The child or grandchild of an active GHS volunteer

- An active teen volunteer at a GHS facility

BUICK Achievers Scholarship

The GM Foundation is offering the Buick Achievers Scholarship to help those who put forth the effort and find success both in and out of the classroom, yet are unable to attend college without financial assistance. They will give 100 (up to $25,000) scholarships.

They encourage the following to apply:

·         High school seniors who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry

Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund (JMSMSF)

The Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in October 2001 by family members of the late Janice Marie Scott to honor her legacy as an advocate for youth and a supporter of community services within the Greater Metropolitan Area of Washington, DC. Mrs. Scott was among the 125 individuals who perished in Pentagon on September 11, 2001 when terrorists crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into that building. The number of scholarships will range each year from three to six scholarships. The amount of the scholarships will be $2,500. They will be issued on a one-time basis and sent directly to the institutions for deposit to the student accounts of the recipients.


High school seniors who want to apply must first determine whether they meet all the requirements. They must complete and submit an application along with the other required documents as specified on the criteria sheet. Please see Guidance for more more information.

Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund Scholarships for Graduating Seniors

The Harry Hampton Fund is pleased to offer four scholarships to S.C. senior students.

  • Harry Hampton Scholarship-  students in the natural resources discipline such as wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry or marine science – 4 years at $2,500 per year
  • Wallace F. Pate Scholarship – same as Harry Hampton – 1 year for $1,500
  • David M. Cline Scholarship– students in the natural resources discipline such as wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, marine science or law enforcement/criminal justice – 1 year for $2,000
  • James O. Thomason Scholarship – students in print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations or mass communications – 4 years at $1,000 per year

SC Department of Education: Archibald Rutledge Scholarship

The SC Department of Education is offering senior students the opportunity to compete for a $2,000 scholarship in creative writing, dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. The purpose of the competition is to encourage and recognize academic and artistic excellence. To compete, students should submit one original composition and a process folio for the visual arts area and an original and two copies of the original composition and process folio for the creative writing, dance, music, or theatre categories.

Entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. or postmarked on or before Friday, February 17, 2014. Awards will be announced in May 2014. See Mrs. Meehan for details.

The James F. Byrnes Foundation Scholarship Program

The James F. Byrnes scholarship assists SC youth who have lost one of both parents to obtain a college education. The annual award of $3,250.00 is applied for each year of a 4-year bachelor’s degree program. To be eligible, a student must: have one or both parents deceased, be a SC resident and US citizen, pursue a bachelor’s degree at a 4-year school, have a satisfactory academic record, have received their SAT/ACT score, demonstrate excellence in character, ability, and enterprise to indicate that the student will make worthwhile contributions to society, and have financial need.

Wendy’s High School Heisman

Applications are now being taken for the Wendy's High School Heisman award. This annual award recognizes outstanding scholar-athletes among America's high school students. The criteria for the award are a combination of athletic success, academic success, and citizenship.

The Mercer University School of Engineering is pleased to invite seniors to participate in our annual Scholarship Challenge at our Macon, Georgia campus on Saturday, November 16, 2013.  We plan to award valuable scholarships this fall to high school seniors who are interested in Mercer’s engineering program.  Last year we awarded more than $2.5M to over 85 students.

The Saturday event on November 16th will include:

  • Campus and engineering laboratory tours in the morning
  • Lunch and a short program for students and their parents
  • The scholarship challenge (a math and language test) in the afternoon -- no calculus background is required
  • A parents’ program in the afternoon in parallel with advisors in admissions, housing, and financial aid
  • Cookie and punch social time to talk with other participants, faculty and admissions counselors

AES Engineers $500 Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria
Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason, we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated the essays that are submitted.

Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post-secondary educational facility.
You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

Daniel High School has been invited to nominate one student to participate in the 2013-14 competition for Jefferson Scholarships to the University of Virginia.  Jefferson Scholarships – full scholarships to the University – are granted to individuals on the basis of merit alone; financial need is not a consideration in the selection process.  The Foundation pays directly to each recipient a stipend sufficient to cover the full cost of attending the University.

South Carolina Teaching Fellow

The SC Teaching Fellows program offers up to 175 graduating seniors up to $24,000 over four years to become SC educators as long as they are in the process of completing a degree leading to teacher licensure. They must agree to teach in a SC public school one year for each year they received the monies. These students must be a legal resident of SC and a current high school senior who will be attending college in the fall of 2014. Students must attend one of the ten teaching fellows institutions: Anderson University, Charleston Southern University, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Francis Marion University, Lander University, Newberry College, USC, USC Upstate, and Winthrop University.

THE BELK SCHOLARSHIP to Davidson College
The John Montgomery Belk Scholarship is Davidson’s most prestigious merit-based program. Covering the comprehensive costs of attending Davidson (room, board, tuition and fees), the Belk Scholarship is valued at over $54,000 in 2013-14.  

Belk Scholars are those students whose outstanding intellectual ability and success, leadership experience, commitment to service and overall personal vigor mark them as those who will accomplish much and contribute most to the Davidson community and in their lives beyond their college years.

Approximately 60 semi-finalists (chosen from an anticipated nomination pool of over 800 candidates) will be interviewed by telephone in February.  Twenty-five to thirty finalists will participate in Belk Scholars Selection Weekend, March 20-22, 2014.
